Moral panics, misconceptions and public outrage have a history of dominating news coverage when it comes to LGBT+ issues. This talk looks some of the ‘dangers’ and taboos addressed by Leeds newspapers from the 1960s to the 1990s, and draws on new oral history recordings to explore how LGBT+ people might have had more to fear from the mainstream itself.

A talk to tie in with Abbey House Museum’s 2019 exhibition, Danger Zone, with Dr Ross Horsley (West Yorkshire Queer Stories).

**BOOKING ESSENTIAL**

Please book your place in advance (pay on the day). Talk is £5.50 including admission to the rest of the museum. A hot beverage is included.
